fever with chills!

Image
thats why i have not been blogging, or doing much else for that matter, these few days. i think this is the sickest i have been since i had got pneumonia in 2005. atleast i had a diagnosis then..... it all began last thursday morning with a sore throat...which conveniently disappeared by evening,by when i had developed fever.... i did go to college the next day, but by the time i came back, i had chills to accompany the fever.... had to go to a doctor, who diagnosed it as viral lower respiratory tract infection and was given fever lowering drugs and antibiotics for prophylaxis. but the fever did not subside. after being bedridden and missing college for 3 days, i called up the doc. i was advised blood tests-all of which were normal-no signs of parasites, bacterial infections..... hmmm, the doctor thought it should still be a viral fever, the fever might be taking some time to come down. i thought and hoped soo too. the course of antibiotics were completed yesterday and am feeling a litt

4th October!

Image
well, it was quite a special day yesterday(4th october), first being, it was my birthday. we were also finshing our paediatrics postings, so it was internals time(yet again)! the internals went alright, i had to take a case of acute diarrhea! we did not have any classes at 12.30, so whiled away my time till 2. after the medicine-neurology class at 2, it was time for some partying!!!! i had to give a treat to my friends and another close friend had to as well, for getting his ICMR project approved and getting a handsome stipend! we went to an ice-cream snacks.... joint and had some fun!!!! a photo from there: by the way, 4th october,1957 was the day the first satellite was launched, sputnik it was....

Jules Verne Week!

Image
my recreational activities this week were related to jules verne..... i finished the e-book twenty thousand leagues under the sea on thursday. if i compare it with the other works of verne that i have read-journey to the centre of the earth, around the world in 80 days, this book was too lengthy, too many descriptions of the flora and fauna of the seas! it really gets boring at too many places..... but the story overall, the concept of a submarine, visiting the south pole, discovering the submerged atlantis, make for a worthwhile read. especially when you consider that all this was written way back in the 1800s.... the highlight of the book is the part where they get trapped while returning from the south pole and how Captain Nemo,`the emotionless` and the crew and passengers aboard the Nautilius handle the situation. fantastic read overall! the other activity realted to verne is :i watched the movie journey to the center of the earth on wednesday. i had read the book some 2 years ago,

Cute little sparrows!

Image
seems like the cute little sparrows are making a comeback! the last i had seen them was when i was around 10 years old, near my granny`s house. i used to love these birds, they were tiny, cute, playful, some of them even used to taunt the dog that was there in my granny`s house. what fun it was to watch them. all of a sudden, i couldn`t spot a single member of this species, it was like extinction happening right in front of my eyes! 12 years later, i spotted a few sparrows in the most unlikeliest locations! last week, i saw quite a number of them in the K.R Market bus stand! also, some were seen hovering near the entrance of Victoria Hospital! are they making a comeback? hope so! welcome back you cute little passerines!

More updates....

before i could say internals, another internal got over-surgery theory, on friday. it went okay, better than the last one i hope! and our paediatrics postings have begun, nice to see the little kids, really cute they are. but it`s sad to see them sick, in hospital wards.... too bad. and about a software- mobi reader . it was recommended to me by my friend-brocas..... i managed to find an alpha version for my s40 phone and it works like a charm. although i had hoped that i would not be reading anymore novels, i am halfway through twenty thousand leagues under the sea, thanks to this wonderful software. you can find this and more such legal e-books on Project Gutenberg .

From no internals to surprise internals!

last week, we were told we would have no internals at the end of postings in obg and instead we would be evaluated topic wise, we would be given a topic to prepare for, the previous day, and questions would be asked on the same and marks given according to the overall performance in several topics. this happened on last saturday and this monday. the rest of the days, our profs, asst. profs, lecturers were all busy and today this happened: "oh, you have internals today right?", asked the person who had told us we would not be having internals, at 10:30 in the morning. i was thinking- NOOOOOOOOOOOOO, we dont. but nothing came out of my mouth, not from the others` either.... we did present 2 cases. my internals were okay, except for 2 silly mistakes, one because of a slip of tongue..... i have been in an irritable mood ever since. nothing much to write about, except more internals- we have surgey theory on friday. and paediatrics postings begin from monday, hello kids!

Updates

The last week of OBG postings in our final year is going on, it feels really short compared to the previous posting of 6 weeks. also, we had 1 week labour ward postings this time. we are mostly revising the cases we had seen and learnt last posting.... then.... i read a novel-deception point by dan brown. was fantastic, it`s his third novel i am reading-the others were angels and demons and da vinci code. all of them have been exhilarating. this is the only novel i have read this year, hope its the only one too, i have got to be studying right, final year, final term and all! ಹಾಗೇ ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಗೌರಿ ಗಣೇಶ ಹಬ್ಬದ ಶುಭಾಶಯಗಳು. wish you all a happy gowri ganesha festival!

Phoonk

We did not have theory classes today. So after lunch, 6 of us decided to go to ram gopal verma's phoonk. The first half of the movie feels as if it is trying to scare you, only, nothing else. It does succeed at many instances, mainly due to sudden appearances of people coupled with sudden booming sounds. The second half picks up pace and the movie moves forward well. People who have never even heard of black magic may find the whole movie absurd, like a friend of mine did. I believe that, to enjoy such movies, 'suspension of disbelief' is required atleast for the duration of the movie. Some may not require any suspension as they are already believers. Our kichcha sudeep is acting in a bollywood movie for the first time and he does not disappoint. The cute little girl who plays his daughter has played her part well too. The climax is the best part of the movie. Although i did not find the movie as scary as it was touted to be, i did like it. A simple story told well and in a

Enjoying the weekend

It's been a typical weekend, a proper weekend like it is supposed to be. It had been quite a while. Slept quite late yesterday, got up late today... Watched the movie 10000 bc, was quite a good movie. Then i have been watching the india sl cricket match since then. Indians are not playing that well, they have lost 4 wickets. Lets see what happens. The olympics is also coming to an end today, usain bolt was amazing, i saw him run the 200m on tv, amazing. Phelps was stunning, 8 gold medals, wow... There goes another wicket, 5 down now, just when it seemed India was recovering...

a week and 2 internals later

hmmm.... i don`t know how to describe my performance in the OBG and paediatrics internals. both of them did not go as well as i had hoped them to go.... it was quite a task to prepare for the paediatrics internals, 3 days, 30 odd topics. i ended up skipping some unimportant topics and not revising fully what i had read.... don`t know what else to write about now.....bye for now!

Blogging from a mobile!

Yes, this is the first time i am blogging from a mobile. I am using the e-mail to blog feature here. So i dont know how to add tags to this post. Maybe i will do that later. . The reason i am blogging from a mobile is there has been a power cut since 1 and a half hours here and its raining cats and dogs. So i dont think the power will be restored soon. This has been happening successively for 3 days now, yesterday there was no power for 4 hours.:( hmmm.. I have internals coming up, 2 of them next week, but this power! Tomorrow is our 61st independence day. Let us all celebrate it with great joy and be proud to be Indians. Also we have a festival tomorrow as well, the varamahalakshmi vratam. Happy varamahalakshmi vratam readers of my blog and friends. Bye for now. -- Faithless is he that says farewell when the road darkens. J. R. R. Tolkien

Funny video

some more eventful days!

Image
right when i was fretting about internals on 2 consecutive days-11th and 12th of august, our clinical internals in surgery got preponed to 8th august from 11th and the obg theory internals got postponed to 19th august. call it divine intervention!!! by the way, we have pediatrics internals coming up on 23rd august, both the subjects have quite a lot to be read, but at least we got a chance to DIE ANOTHER DAY! and the surgery internals itself- they got over on 8th,friday. i had to take a thrombo angitis obliterans(TAO) case, seen exclusively in males, in smokers only. people who are sensitive to nicotine in smoke develop severe inflammatory reactions in their blood vessels-especially small and medium sized vessels and blood flow to the parts supplied is severely affected, especially lower limbs. this guy had one of his legs amputated- above knee and the other leg also was suffering from lack of blood supply too. it looked like he would need amputation of that leg too! so smokers, beware

Happy friendsip day!

interesting photos!

no more power cuts from august, the Government says....good! here are a few interesting photos i shot with my mobile during those numerous power cuts last month!

hectic schedule yet again!

well, our surgery postings internals are scheduled for next monday-11th august. that is actually 2 days after our surgery postings would have got over, and our next term and next postings-OBG would have begun! darn! no term holidays also this time!!! and theory internals in OBG got announced today, to be held on 12th august. what timing! and the portions are not confirmed yet! and i was hoping for a little break, what after we had finished our medicine internals only last week!

Tag!!!

i am tagging my long time buddy pratap upadhya !

the dark knight

Image
i also managed to watch the dark knight in the theaters on tuesday, was a most wonderful movie. my internals had got over on monday and felt like watching a movie.... its the first batman movie i have watched and was very impressed. had listened to the first movie`s summary, given by my friend! i liked the idea of him being a super hero with no supernatural powers, using technology for all he does and is capable of! and the joker, excellent role played by the actor! does our country need a batman to protect us? in the wake of recent events, it sure would feel good to have one!

terror in the country

so much has happened in the past 1 and a 1/2 weeks.... first up, my medicine theory internals went alright i think. its the 2 days before that internals that caught the attention of the whole nation and even the events that keep getting reported in newspapers even now that are gripping the country by fear! i had never imagined that bombs would go off in our beloved bangalore, the always-safe place to be in the country.... i have spent most of my life till now in this calm, peaceful city. it took some time to actually believe that blasts did occur. i had received an sms saying that 4 blasts occurred in the city, stay where you are, dont visit crowded places, etc from a friend and also that this was not a joke. after i read that, i thought it was a joke and as i was at home then ,switched on the tv. lo, behold all the news channels reporting blasts going off one after another till the count reached 9,in one channel, most others reported 8 blasts. by the time i had come to terms with this n

Taking a break

well, i am sort of taking a break today, from studies that is. not that i have been doing too much of it, but i have to visit my cousins today. for lunch and dinner. their house is near HAL, quite far from my house. so not much chance of coming back quickly and catching up on studies, could not study this morning as i had got up late, had to go for a hair cut(was getting pestered by my mother since 2 weeks), and just felt too lazy to study! i have got to study seriously though, medicine theory internals in 1 weeks time-next Monday. all these power cuts every 1 hour during the evenings and nights are not helping much, quite irritating really! that1s all for now. off to my cousins` house!

Diablo 3

Image
yes, blizzard has announced diablo 3, don`t know when it will be released though! this is the first time i am writing about a computer game in my blog. i was a gaming buff in my younger years- in puc and even in 1st year mbbs. would have been even now, had i had more time to spare! i had bought diablo 2 ling back, had liked it so much that i finished the game, single player and online, then bought the expansion pack and finished that too. i downloaded lots of mods for the game and loved them all! and now, blizzard has announced the third installment! no gaming news has ever excited me so much, i read about this in a computer magazine i subscribe to(see, i am still a technology and gizmo buff) and just had to head to the blizzard website . i was pretty impressed, although not much details have been revealed. i dont even know if i will ever play the game- will i? when? but i am excited all the same!!!!!! this is a photo of my diablo 2 game co

I am angered!

this is a forward i received quite some time ago, when all the fight for reservation,quota... was going on: Hi , I think we should have job reservations in all the fields. I completely support the PM and all the politicians for promoting this. Let's start the reservation with our cricket team. We should have 10 percent reservation for Muslims. 30 percent for OBC, SC /ST like that. Cricket rules should be modified accordingly. The boundary circle should be reduced for an SC /ST player. The four hit by an OBC player should be considered as a six and a six hit by a OBC player should be counted as 8 runs. An OBC player scoring 60 runs should be declared as a century. We should influence ICC and make rules so that the pace bowlers like Shoaib akhtar should not bowl fast balls to our OBC player. Bowlers should bowl maximum speed of 80 kilometer per hour to an OBC player. Any delivery above this speed should be made illegal. Also we should have reservation in Olympics. In the 100 meters

Surgery

Image
that`s the postings i have right now. we have had 1 and a 1/2 weeks of it and it has been okay, compared to medicine. like most people say, in medicine, diagnosing itself poses a big challenge whereas in surgery, it`s not so much of a headache. maybe i am saying this because i have liked general medicine all along my course.i liked physiology in 1st year, medicine is like an extension. i had not liked anatomy then, so surgery doesn`t appeal so much to me. also i don`t think i can stand the pain suffered by patients in surgical practice. some of the times, when the PGs are dressing wounds, ulcers in the wards, i can`t bear to look at the faces of those wincing patients or hear their painful cries! anyway, we have seen a few cases till now, them being a diabetic ulcer(i had to help dress it, thankfully, it was painless to him), a carcinoma breast, a hernia, a hydrocoele, a thyroid gland swelling. all these patients were really co-operative and we students have to be really thankful to t

Sad Memories

Image
first of all, belated wishes to all my colleagues- happy doctor`s day! i remembered something yesterday when i was looking at an aquarium.... i was in the 6th standard and very much wanted to have some pet(a dog was my demand) at home, my parents always used to object. on my birthday that year, my maternal uncle, knowing how badly i wanted to keep a pet at home, decided to `present` me with some aquarium fish. the problem was there was no aquarium at home! so i decided to use a large bottle as a temporary haven for these exotic looking fish. a fish bowl was ordered from a nearby pets and aquarium store! to my dismay, the fish started dying one by one, one every day. this happened on 3 successive days and there were only 2 left. i was heartbroken! i could not decipher the reason for the mysterious deaths of my for-some-time-beloved companions! i felt like crying! it was definitely not lack of food, i think i used to feed them excessively(could that be the reason?). it might have been to

am back!

Image
could not blog for a week as i was preparing for my internals in medicine clinicals, it went quite well i think. i had got a hemiplegia(paralysis of one side of the body) case for my internals, the diagnosis itself was not a problem as we had seen the case earlier. it is the questions asked that is the tough part in such cases, our unit head himself took my internals. i answered most of his questions.... overall, it was the best and most interesting postings we have had this term(i am a little biased towards medicine you see, it`s the subject i like most). we saw many interesting cases and also most of the cases that can be given in exams, so aquite a fruitful posting! next up, surgery postings. don`t know if we will be posted in victoria hospital itself or to bowring.... right now, i am relaxing, will watch some movie, just enjoy for now!

Beauty killed the Beast!

Image
famous last words from the movie King Kong(2005) . watched it on tv yesterday night, it had been almost 3 years since i saw it in the theaters.... it is a very well directed movie(by peter jackson). the selfish nature of Carl Denham and the possessive nature of Kong, what each of them does to achieve his own objectives has been beutifully portrayed! but the character i liked best in the movie is Kong himself, the very human-like giant ape....the emotions the director has shown through the ape is fantastic. the scenes where the ape gets angry when the leading lady tries to get away from him, how he reacts when she tries to make him happy, those soft, dark, brown human eyes showing emotions by themselves.....every scene is worth watching! towards the climax, where the ape-the KING KONG is chained and shown as an exhibit in a play is touching. the ape looks like it has given up, you can make out from the way it sits on stage.... then the very final scene, the ape receives its final set of

Funny Forwards!

Image
some one-liners from forwards i have received on e-mail, mobile..... credit goes to the original creators of the lines! hard work never killed anyone, but why take the risk? nobody is perfect, i am nobody! finally it has happened, beer is cheaper than petrol, so drink, don`t drive! don`t drink and drive, the beer will spill! Photos from College

Party Time!

Image
well not exactly, but we did have a little treat. two of my closest friends( one of them ) ,in college, celebrated their birthdays on the 8th and 9th and the treat was on the 9th. another close friend whose birthday was on the 10th joined in the funding(more like he was forced to!). so with 3 people funding a treat for 10, it was a rather sumptuous treat! wish all of them a very happy birthday again! shifting attention to my postings, not many cases seem to be getting admitted to our ward, wonder why! so we are spending most of the time searching for cases in other units and joining their classes.... have been reading CNS(central nervous system) for the past few days and it still fascinates me! i had kind-of skipped neuroanatomy(was more interested in its physiology) in the first year, but now, i find that even the anatomy is fascinating, also, it is very important to know where exactly the lesion lies in the brain....unfortunately, there seems to be a dearth of CNS cases only in our

Midway through Medicine

Image
postings, that is. 3 of our 6 weeks postings in medicine this term have been completed! though i haven`t read even close to half of what i should have read! just the number of books available to study medicine is enough to confuse the most determined person. add to this, the innumerable signs we have to pick up clinically, names of all those signs to remember, specific drugs of choice for each type of a disease(i did not know the drug of choice for legionnaire`s pneumonia), comments from our professors that we are not reading at all.....those only-professors-can-hear murmurs, especially the early and mid diastolic murmurs, can leave you quite frustrated, make you think- aren`t my ears normal? what if i dont hear these murmurs at all??? this is getting tougher and tougher. add to it, the many distractions on tv,the localites like me have to face, what if the ipl is over, euro 2008 has started, the french open finals is today, a tri-series involving India-Pakistan-Bangladesh has begun!.....

Indiana Jones

and the kingdom of the crystal skull ,watched the movie yesterday(released here only on the 30th) and found out that harrison ford still rocks and i still like adventure movies! i had seen the earlier movies when i was in school(i was not yet born when the first movie was released) and had loved the first movie the most. the latest movie is good, but i still think the first was the best. and the much hyped ipl comes to an end today, the finals at 8 pm. it has lived upto the hype and expectations according to me, had fun watching most of the games, but both the semi finals were too one-sided. hope the finals is better! a short trailer of the movie:

Election results out!

well BJP won with a realtive majority, it was almost a simple majority, missed it by just one! anyway, i had voted for them and they have won here in our constituency as well! and looks like they are the ones who will be forming the Govt., hope this one lasts the term. otherwise a pretty boring day, did not do much today-hardly studied(in front of the tv,watching election results)! another royal challengers match today, also the monaco grand prix, will watch these now.... and was really happy that ManU won the champions league, would have been happier if they had won without going to the penalty shootout.

Medicine postings!

Image
about time our medicine postings started, they did from this monday. already we have seen quite a few interesting cases, 2 pleural effusion cases, copd with cor pulmonale, anemia for evaluation. but the most interesting case is about a guy who has diffuse, dull aching, bilateral chest pain since 3 years and breathlessness and bilateral pedal edema since 1 month. he also has cough when he gets breathless, a/w scanty sputum! evening rise of temp. also since a month. to top it all, he says he has diarrhoea since 3 years-hard to believe when he says he dint take any real treatment for it. its a case referred to our hospital(victora) from jayadeva. obg internals was okay. couldnt blog because net connection was down for almost(or more than) a week, first time this has happened with bsnl broadband. at last, bangalore royal challengers won a rare game yesterday, the last 4 overs were scintillating to watch! 3 wins off 12 games, they have moved off the bottom of the table at long last! p.s: th

Internals!

Image
so soon? thats what i feel whenever some test/exam comes up! but these internals do really come very frequently in the final year, what with internals in all the postings you attend and theory as well. well, obg internals fast approaching, am trying to fast reading! still have quite a bit to read. skin postings are still going on(no internals in this one posting, thankfully), get over this saturday.we saw a case of pemphigus yesterday and a case of hansen`s today. lucky the patient was so co-operative today, imagine 30 odd "doctors" examining your hypoaesthetic patch, palpating all the nerves that can be palpated superficially(half of them tender for him), each one asking the same questions, .... found an interesting and funny image!

Vote for....

Image
voted for the first time in my life today! was not exactly a happy or easy experience, they made me roam around looking for my serial no.,part no.,even though i had my voter id card....they were not even serious about checking my name in the list, first i was told to go to some other school, then i was told that my name is not there in the voter`s list, then i ,literally by myself, had to search my name in the list, which i got and you had to see their faces then!(and mine too)! i was quite angry then! and my sister did not have a voter id card, she just had to check her name and get her nos.....which she got quite easily. and to top it all, my parents` names were missing (for real, this time) from the voters` list, they who had been voting from so many years...... talk about the biggest democracy in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Skin and STD

Image
That`s the postings i have right now, i am supposed to have anyway, but as the PGs have their exams going on, i don`t think it will start until friday atleast(more likely monday as thursday and saturday are holidays). that reminds me, saturday is the d-day,elections, its the first time i will be voting! The boy in the photo(photo is not mine, though i suffer from the same condition) has a skin disease called acne vulgaris . i have been suffering from this condition since 6-7 years, with exacerbations and (not exactly) remissions. i have been put on isotretinoin treatment since almost 2 months now and the pimples have cleared up(at long last!!!!!). its a 3 month course and lets see how long this remission lasts! The drug itself is a retinoid(a vit a analogue), has a page full of side effects! is prescribed only as a last resort in cases untreatable by other drugs and means(like mine).

Bangalore Royal Challengers Won!

Image
well, our orthopaedics postings have got over after a 4 week posting. the 2 internals have been done and dusted.... the internals in instruments and x-rays were held on friday, were okay. watched the bangalore royal challengers v/s deccan chargers match yesterday, at last the royal challengers won a match at home, barely though! it was a closely contested match and took some fine last 2 balls from the bangalore boy(or man!) Anil Kumble for the bangaloreans to scrape through for a 3 run win, the narrowest of margins yet in the tournament! feeling a little unwell from yesterday morning, have right maxillary sinusitis from what i make of my symptoms and signs! anyway, today i am relaxing, have no plans of studying anything.... am posting this not knowing what to do now, maybe i will watch a movie!

Memory Retention

Image
came across this interesting article here today about memory, how it works, its storage and retention. havent read all of it yet, looks pretty fascinating.it tells about a spacing effect, how people can recall well if they are reminded of or themselves remind/look up things they have learnt, at the right time, just when they are going to forget it.... have bookmarked it and will definitely read it fully....it also tells about a software called super memo developed by Wozniak....this software is supposed to analyze when people will forget things and remind them of it. hmm....

Aramane

Image
a movie i saw yesterday, with parents and sister. *ing golden star Ganesh, AnantNag and Roma. was quite good actually, except for the ending.... the story is nothing extraordinary, but the way it is shown in the movie is simple and succinct.veteran actor anant nag has once again come up with a sterling performance, his acting feels so natural.... well, people who dont mind tragic endings will love the whole movie. it is quite emotional too, sentimental women may be seen shedding a tear or two....

Cat Walk!

i was just browsing through videos in youtube, came across some good wildlife videos.... i had also uploaded my own video shot with a digital camera in bannerghatta.... the video wasn`t this dark before i uploaded it to youtube...hmm... another good video which became quite famous as the battle at kruger: amazing video shot by an amateur, simply incredible!

Rarest of rare cases

Image
a couple of days ago, we came across a case of congenital shortening of middle phalanges of the medial 4 fingers and the lateral 4 toes(the great toe`s and thumb`s proximal phalanges were shortened). it was one of the rarest cases according to our professor- he had never seen such a case and it has not even been mentioned in our books. it was a 6 year old girl who presented with deformed fingers and toes with difficulty in moving them. she could not write properly, but could walk alright. on x-ray, the shortened phalanges were detected. the deformity of the index finger did look like the one in the above x-ray, but i am not sure whether the above x-ray shows any shortening of phalanges.... our professor told her parents that nothing could be done right now, but maybe after the epiphyses have fused, prostheses may be tried....

Pilgrimage to Tamil Nadu

Image
The last 3 days were religious,spiritual,awe-inspiring,fun filled and a little tiring(the journey). my orthopaedics internals had got over on thursday, it had gone okay.... my parents,sister,myself,3 members of a neighborhood family and a friend of father left for om shakthi in tamil nadu, in a toyota qualis, on thursday night. we reached the place on friday morning and visited the temple. had breakfast at a nearby restaurant... went to pondicherry then, lazed around a bit on the beach. left for chidambaram next, was quite a nice place. next stop- karaikal . we lodged there for the night and visited the temple there the next morning, the temple of shri shaneswara the Saturn God. visited the beach there too-this was the fun filled part of the journey, the beach was almost devoid of people(it was almost noon). collected some shells-this is the first time i did this... a bit of splashing in the water and it was time to go again... off to kumbukonam- place of 7 temples -alas all were clo

Orthopaedics

it has been 1 week now since orthopaedics postings started and we have only presented 2(almost 2 , only 1 properly) cases. the proper case was a case of secondary osteomyelitis, secondary to an infected implant. the other half presented case was a case of avascular necrosis of the femoral head, we couldn`t diagnose this clinically, it was an x-ray diagnosis. today was another holiday, the birthday of our constitution maker, a great person he was. also, another festival for us -Ram Navami. with internals in orthopaedics coming up in 3 days, i havent studied enough, starting to get a little anxious. i am off to a small nap now!!!

World Health Day

almost forgot, its also the world health day today. i think this year`s theme is quite appropriate in these days- climate change and its effect on health its high time people started taking notice about the effects climate has on health and climate which is in turn being affected by our activities. i, myself , live in quite a populated and polluted city, the effects of pollution have already occurred in Bangalore. it was once called a naturally air conditioned city, anyone who comes to this city now will say its anything but air conditioned. unseasonal rains, unnatural temperatures,....its all happening. the effects are also being felt on the health of the people, don't think we have a very healthy population here....don`t know the exact statistics....

its Ugadi our new year!

got up quite late today also, even though its the beginning of our Hindu new year. hope i don't keep doing the same thing. tried to read something in orthopedics(postings start from tomorrow), got bugged and closed the book within 10 minutes. just lazing around now, don`t know what to do. watched the golden compass yesterday, pretty good animation!

Every human being begins his/her life as a hermaphrodite!

well, its the end of our first postings in final year. OBG was quite good, though the internals on Friday did not go too well. on the whole it was a good 6 weeks postings, i think we learnt a lot more than we had till now. we have 2 continuous holidays now, a little free, as one posting has just got over and the next one begins from tuesday. i think i`ll go watch a movie now.

1st day of final year

An introductory talk was given by the HOD of OBG dept. in the morning. then we continued taking the case we had already started taking( a prof. from our unit had asked us to take one). went in search of him to present the case, but we couldnt find him... headed home afterwards as there were no theory classes today. am writing this now... quite a boring day really...

Holidays over

Well, it`s the end of the so called holidays, final year begins from tomorrow. OBG postings. finished moscow vector, awesome book. saw India lose to Australia again, but this time they put up quite a good fight. it was a very good cricket match on the whole.

1 more day left

well, only one more holiday left before final year begins. 10 days seem to have just whizzed by. today i saw om shanti om, SRKs movie. was okay... played halo a little too. and am still reading ludlum`s moscow vector.

Ratatouille!

Watched this movie today, was very good. but i still think i liked cars better. aslo played halo on my pc for the first time, a nice game. overall a good day mainly because of the beautiful movie!

Another ordinary day

today was boring as well... saw the movie the reaping, dint like it too much.

Normal Day

had gone to a friends house today, stayed there till evening. nothing else done today... found out that my first postings in final year will be OBG(as always, wonder why obg is always first for my batch), yesterday night.

met the spartans today

saw the 300 movie spoof meet the spartans! quite hilarious really! was busy watching the india sri lanka match for the rest of the day. India won, yes, quite a good innings by yuvraj and some responsible batting by dhoni saw India through.

Cars

saw the movie cars today, yes, today for the first time. its the best movie i have seen in quite a long time. i have started liking animation movies a lot more all of a sudden. started reading harry potter and the philosophers stone(again) yesterday... ಎಷ್ಟು ಸಲ್ಲ ಒದಿದಿರು ಭೆಜಾರ್ ಆಗಲ್ಲ ನೋಡಿ.

Final Year

final year in medical college starting in a weeks time. have heard from seniors that we have to slog it out....will see what happens....
