Phoonk
We did not have theory classes today. So after lunch, 6 of us decided to go to ram gopal verma's phoonk. The first half of the movie feels as if it is trying to scare you,only, nothing else. It does succeed at many instances, mainly due to sudden appearances of people coupled with sudden booming sounds. The second half picks up pace and the movie moves forward well. People who have never even heard of black magic may find the whole movie absurd, like a friend of mine did. I believe that, to enjoy such movies, 'suspension of disbelief' is required atleast for the duration of the movie. Some may not require any suspension as they are already believers. Our kichcha sudeep is acting in a bollywood movie for the first time and he does not disappoint. The cute little girl who plays his daughter has played her part well too. The climax is the best part of the movie. Although i did not find the movie as scary as it was touted to be, i did like it. A simple story told well and in a
